A Perceptual Abyss

Caffeine peaks

              bringing on the tidal flow

Rabbit heart beats

              cardboard melts to painted snow

Nicotine seeps

              Ionic columns in the lungs

Jaded whispers creep

              promising a stolen sun

Alcoholic fits

              thrashing in the sweat-stained bed

Serotonin leaked

              creamy walls are turning red
